GABORONE - SENIOR LIBRARIAN - DIGITIZATION COORDINATOR
The University of Botswana Library. Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for: (i) planning, coordination and implementation of the library digitization projects; (ii) providing leadership, mentoring and supervision to team members in issues involved in digital library and digital archive architecture and usability; digitization technologies; (iii) management and implementation of technical projects/digitization projects; (iv) understanding and application of laws and regulations governing copyright, publication of and access to digitized records. Requirements: Candidates should have: (i) a Masters degree in Archives Administration or a related field plus Bachelor of Computer Science OR Masters in Computer Science plus a degree in any subject; (ii) significant post qualification experience, some of which should have been in digitization work; (iii) experience in the preservation of digital images; (iv) experience in metadata management; (v) working knowledge of XML, HTML, and other web-related mark-up languages; (vi) understanding of relational database design and implementation; (vii) working knowledge of a variety of image file formats and various popular software products; (viii) the ability to deliver training; experience in the management and supervision of staff.
